When I went out, I was always the shortest person, and even though I wanted very badly to have fun like other teens, I usually kept to myself and avoided being with other people. The thought of someone, especially a girl, teasing me about my height kept me at home most nights.
Being Short as an Adult
I finally made it through college, and set out to find a job and enter the work force. It should have been easy for me to find a job, thanks to my 3.5 GPA and a degree in mechanical engineering. However, I quickly discovered this wasn’t the case.
Perhaps I was too self conscious about my height and read a little deeper into the situation, but regardless, I felt like interviewers were surprised at my height. My qualifications were suitable for every single job I interviewed for, still I did not receive one offer or even a call for a second interview.
